About

Imagine a destination where the world can see, hear, experience, and be inspired by one million artists.

The mission of the Creative Economy Network, an initiative of the UNDP's Creativity for Development Programme, is of a world in which creativity generates income and jobs while promoting social inclusion, cultural preservation, and human development everywhere.

Using the OurHistree™ Enterprise Platform, to empower creative talents to connect and collaborate online, the Creative Economy Network seeks to help create sustainability for artists and their countries through connecting and showcasing the world's creative talents.

In 2008, the United Nations issued the "Creative Economy Report", which found that creativity is one of the most profitable drivers of world trade, generating nearly half a trillion dollars each year. However, the large majority of developing nations reaps only marginal gains from the production and exchange of creative goods and services. Despite the abundance and rich diversity of creative talent, the majority of these countries -- such as those in Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America -- struggle to benefit from the enormous potential of their most innovative citizens because these artists cannot reach a wide audience nor exercise intellectual property rights over their creations in order to license their works.

What does this mean? It means there are countless talents from around the world whose artistic expression remains hidden by lack of access to an audience and whose artistic expression will never sustain their basic needs nor contribute to the economic sustainability of their communities and countries. Through the OurHistree™/UNDP Creative Economy Network, one million of these artists -- and you -- will have the chance to change all that.

Powered by OurHistree™ and driven by the UNDP's Special Unit for South-South Copertaion, the Creative Economy Network will become the stage where emerging talents from developing nations showcase their creations, generate income, and engage a global audience.
